The Vintage P.A.F. Clone humbucker is a reproduction of pickups from the late 50s.
This is an absolute classic among humbuckers.
The pickup is characterized by an exceptionally transparent tone in a vintage style.
All components used for this model come from renowned suppliers, including the USA and UK.
We took care of every detail to recreate these exceptional pickups.
The materials used for this model preserve all historical details with great accuracy.
The material from which the bobbins are made is cellulose acetate butyrate,
the structure of this material is characterized by a lack of a smooth finish
and a matte appearance.
Interestingly, its smell is also characteristic of butyrate.
The coils were wound non-standardly, with plain-enamel magnetic wire,
also known as oil-resin enamel, commonly used in the 50s and 60s.
The baseplate is made of a nickel silver alloy, which makes it a more tonally transparent material.
The baseplate legs are longer than in modern humbuckers.
To maintain the historic character we used inch pole pieces made of low carbon steel.
Interesting fact:
inside the pickup there is a maple spacer and it is worth emphasizing that
the spacer has no effect on the tone of the pickup and only has a stabilizing function.
The pickups are not waxed, we do not recommend waxing this model for several reasons:
the original P.A.F. pickups were not waxed, butyrate bobbins can be deformed,
filling the pickup with wax subtly affects the tone, the sound becomes compressed,
the upper band is slightly dampened.
The pickups were tested by Polish artists such as:
Janusz Yanina Iwański, Krzysztof Jaryczewski, Leszek Cichoński, Wojciech Hoffmann, Bartek Miarka.
The pickups have a 5-year warranty.
